designation

(2935) Naerum was named after Nærum , a small town 15 kilometers north of Copenhagen . There the explorer Richard Martin West spent the first years of his life in his parents' house. In Nærum, archaeological finds from the Stone and Bronze Ages testify to thousands of years of settlement, as does the current name, which is derived from "Njarthar-heim", the home of Njörðr , god of the sea and his riches in Norse mythology .
