(6964) Kunihiko is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 15 October 1990 by the Japanese amateur astronomers Kin EnDate and Kazuro Watanabe at Kitami Observatory ( IAU code 400) on Hokkaido was discovered.
The asteroid was named on August 8, 1998 after the Japanese mathematician Kodaira Kunihiko (1915–1997), who was awarded the Fields Medal in 1954 for outstanding services to mathematics .
