- 1572 : Bartholomew Night : Catholics carry out a pogrom against the Calvinists ( Huguenots ) in France, in which thousands are murdered.
- 1572: With the execution of the last Inca ruler Túpac Amaru on the Plaza de Armas in Cusco, the Inca empire that has existed in Peru for centuries is finally smashed by the Spaniards.
- 1572: The Russian army, led by the Vorotynsky and Khvorostinin princes , wins the battle of Molodi ( July 26th to August 2nd ) against the Crimean Tatar troops led by Devlet Giray .
- 1576: Spanish fury : Antwerp is looted and burned down during the Eighty Years War (1568–1648).
