Politics and world events

Roman Empire

  • Lucius Bruttius Quintius Crispinus is together with Lucius Roscius Aelianus Paculus Ordinary Consul of the Roman Empire .
  • March: During the celebration of the Great Goddess , the former insurgent Maternus is allegedly planning an assassination attempt on the Roman Emperor Commodus . The plan is exposed and Maternus is executed before the festivities begin. This incident moves Commodus to reinforce his bodyguards and to stay away from government affairs and public appearances. The reliability of Herodian's account of the usurpation and the assassination plans of Maternus is, however, in some cases questioned by research; the sources are altogether contradictory.

Empire of China

  • Shortly after General Cao Chun went to the Han Imperial Court in Luoyang , an uprising of the Wu Hu under Zhang Chun and Zhang Ju broke out in You Province in the Chinese Empire . The latter declares himself emperor. The unrest continued until the end of Emperor Ling's reign in 189 .
