In 489 BC BC Miltiades the Younger tries to take the momentum of the previous year with him after the victory in the battle of Marathon over the Persians and leads a campaign against the island of Paros. The Attic attack fails, however, and on his return to Athens, Miltiades is accused by Xanthippos and sentenced by a court.
Legend has it that the exiled war hero Gnaeus Marcius Coriolanus at the head of the Volscians started a war against his homeland Rome on the Italian peninsula .

Eastern Mediterranean
After his victory at Marathon, Miltiades the Younger leads an Attic campaign against the island of Paros , but it fails. Therefore, after his return to Athens, Miltiades is accused by Xanthippos and sentenced to death. However, the death penalty is converted into a large fine that he cannot pay. As a result, he was sent to prison, where he died of an injury sustained near Paros, whereby atimia , the loss of his civil rights , passed to his heirs. His son Kimon can only regain his civil rights by giving his half-sister Elpinike to the wealthy Athenian Callias as his wife, who pays the money debt.
Aristeides , an opponent of Themistocles ' naval plans , becomes Archon of Athens .
