Gelon

Gelon , the tyrant of Gela from the Deinomeniden family , uses a cry for help from the landowners of Syracuse , who have been driven out by the population, to make himself ruler of the city. He leaves the rule over Gela to his brother Hieron I. He strengthens Syracuse and his power there by relocating half of the inhabitants of Gela there and expanding the army and the navy.
