Roman Republic
According to legend, Appius Claudius Sabinus Inregillensis and Publius Servilius Priscus Structus were consuls of the early Roman Republic . The latter is the first of the Servilians family, which will spawn a number of Roman consuls.

In Rome a temple for Mercurius , god of merchants and thieves, is dedicated on the Aventine . At the same time a guild of merchants was created, the members of which were called mercuriales .
