- February: Viking Age : According to tradition, the monks flee to Dasburg during the second Viking raid on the Prüm Abbey .
Abbasid Empire
- October 15 : Al-Mu'tadid is after the death of his uncle Al-Mu'tamid 16th Caliph of the Abbasid . It is the first peaceful change of power in the Abbasid Empire since 847 . The new caliph moves the residence from Samarra back to Baghdad .
