A-Rosa Riva (registered ship name: A'Rosa Riva ) is a river cruise ship built by A-ROSA Flussschiff GmbH in Rostock in 2003/2004 . Since the official commissioning in April 2004, the ship has been used for river cruises on the entire navigable Danube . In addition to her, the shipping company also uses the identical sister ships A-Rosa Bella , A-Rosa Donna and A-Rosa Mia in this area .

history

On the Danube in Bratislava

Seetours, jointly run by the Deutsche Seereederei (DSR) and the British shipping company P&O as a joint venture , decided in 2001 to offer river cruises on the Danube under the brand name A'Rosa in addition to ocean cruises with the shipping company's own ship A-Rosa Blu . After the first two ships completed for this purpose, A-Rosa Bella and A-Rosa Donna, were handed over by the shipyard on schedule in March 2002 , Seetours ordered two more structurally identical ships, which were to be delivered in 2003 and 2004. The joint venture with P&O was terminated before the A-Rosa Riva was delivered. The river cruise brand A-Rosa was incorporated into the DSR subsidiary Arkona with all ships. The ship, built under construction number 504, was handed over to A-ROSA Flussschiff GmbH Rostock, a 100% subsidiary of Arkona AG, on February 26, 2004. With a dock ship it was then transferred by sea to the Danube mouth after Constanta transported. There it was unloaded and drove under its own power across the Danube-Black Sea Canal and the Danube to Passau , where it was baptized on April 9, 2004. From there, the ship went on a seven-day maiden voyage on April 9, 2004 . After a management buy-out in 2009, ownership of the entire fleet was transferred to the newly founded A-Rosa Flussschiff GmbH.

On July 24, 2017, around 1 p.m., a fire broke out on the Danube near Schönbühel-Aggsbach (Melk district).

Furnishing

The A-Rosa Riva is a three-deck cabin ship of the 4-star category with 100 double cabins with an area of 14.5 to 16.5 m². The cabins are air-conditioned and each equipped with a shower, a double bed, safe and flat screen TV. The 48 units on the middle deck have a French balcony. Behind four double cabins in the bow area of the lower deck, 42 cabins are equipped with an additional sofa bed. The two lower decks are designed as pure relaxation areas for passengers and crew. The crew cabins are located in the rear area of the two decks, which is impaired by the engine noise.

A fully glazed lounge with bar and stage was set up on the bow side on the upper deck . Behind it is the fitness and wellness area with massage options, a fitness room and two saunas. In the entrance area in the middle of the ship, an on-board shop was set up next to the reception. Six passenger cabins are connected to this area on the port side and the on-board cafe is on the starboard side. Behind another small lounge is the restaurant, in the middle of which the buffet area and the kitchen have been set up. The restaurant has an open aft deck . A swimming pool and sun loungers are available for passengers behind the wheelhouse on the open deck. Behind it a putting green, a shuffleboard and a chess field have been created. The rear part of the deck is equipped with a grill station as well as tables and chairs. Parts of the open deck can be covered with awnings.

technology

The A-Rosa Riva is powered by two diesel engines MTU 16V 2000 M60 via two 360  degree rotatable Schottel Twin Propeller STP 550 driven, in addition, the ship has to better maneuver a bow thruster type pump Jet SPJ 57 of Schottel , with a 220 kW strong diesel engine is driven. The supply of the electrical on-board network is ensured by three diesel generators D2842 from MAN with 380 kW each and by an emergency generator from Deutz with 37 kW.

The ship is 124.50 m long and 14.40 m wide. The draft is given as 1.47 m to a maximum of 1.87 m, the height above water with 6.96 m. By lowering the wheelhouse and moving the railings and awnings, the height can be reduced for trips at higher water levels.

Driving area

The four ships of the Danube fleet operate on 17 different routes. The most westerly approached destination is Passau, the most easterly is Vilkovo on the Danube Delta in Ukraine . Maintenance and repair work is carried out in Linz . The ships have not reached their home port in Rostock since the shipyard was handed over.
