The A-Rosa Silva is a river cruise ship that has been sailing under the German flag for river cruises on the Rhine , Moselle , Main , Main-Danube Canal and Danube since it was officially commissioned on July 3, 2012 . The river ship, like the rest of the fleet, bears the company name 'A-ROSA' of A-ROSA Flussschiff GmbH in its name. Its identical sister ship, the A-Rosa Flora , entered service in 2014.

history

Rear view

Shortly before the completion of the A-Rosa Brava , the A-ROSA Flussschiff GmbH commissioned the Neptun shipyard in Rostock-Warnemünde on February 14, 2010 with the construction of two identical cabin passenger ships that are suitable for use on the Danube, Main, Moselle and Rhine should. In particular, the small lock dimensions and bridge heights of the Main-Danube Canal had to be taken into account in the construction. In addition, the ship should be equipped so that passengers can feel comfortable on board even on long cruises from Amsterdam to the Danube Delta . The shipping company therefore decided on a larger version of the two sister ships A-Rosa Luna and A-Rosa Stella built in France in 2005 with two and a half passenger decks.

The keel was laid on November 4, 2011. Due to bad weather conditions in winter, the delivery of the ship was delayed by two weeks, so that A-Rosa Silva only crossed the Baltic Sea , Kiel Canal , North Sea , IJsselmeer and up in the second half of June on her own could go to Amsterdam. The parts at risk of breakage were protected with wooden cladding for the safety of the transfer. Then the final equipment of the ship took place. The christening ceremony at Pier 5 of the Vriessevemkade in Amsterdam, actually planned for June 15, took place on July 2, 2012. Godmother was Sonja Dreisow, the wife of Jörg Dreisow, the managing director of the majority shareholder of A-Rosa, Waterland.

On July 3, 2012, the ship went on a maiden voyage to Basel under the command of Captain Joachim Schlenther ; it was used in autumn 2012 on the routes Frankfurt am Main - Strasbourg and Nuremberg - Regensburg .

Furnishing

The A-Rosa Silva is the first ship of the "A-Rosa Flussschiff" to have suites and junior suites as an accent to the regular outside cabins. There are two restaurants, two cafe bars, a Finnish sauna, a steam sauna in the modern spa area and an outdoor pool available to passengers.

technology

The A-Rosa Silva is powered by four diesel engines Volvo Penta D12-450MH (KC) over four Z-Drive driven STP 200 with twin propellers, in addition the ship has a bow thruster type pump Jet SPJ 82 of Schottel , with a 400 kW diesel engine is driven. The ship is 135 m long and 11.40 m wide. The draft is given as 1.60 m at normal load, the height above water as 6.00 m. By lowering the wheelhouse and moving the railings and sun sails, the height can be reduced for trips on bodies of water with low bridges.
