history

In 2008, A-ROSA Flussschiff GmbH commissioned the Neptun shipyard in Rostock-Warnemünde to build two identical cabin passenger ships for use on the Rhine, Main and Moselle. After the shell of the first A-Rosa Aqua was completed in March 2009, the keel was laid for the second ship on April 23, 2009. Bettina Scheerer (Pichler) was the godmother of the keel. On February 19, 2010 the eighth river cruise ship was handed over to the shipping company during a ceremony in the presence of the Minister of Transport of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Volker Schlotmann . In the following week, A-Rosa Viva drove on its own across the Baltic Sea , Kiel Canal , North Sea , IJsselmeer and Rhine to the Deutz port in Cologne . The parts at risk of breakage were protected with wooden cladding for the safety of the transfer. The final equipment of the ship took place in March. On March 26, 2010, Miss Switzerland of the year 2007 Amanda Ammann named the ship A-Rosa Viva during a ceremony in Basel .

Furnishing

With other river cruise ships in Amsterdam

The A-Rosa Viva is a three-deck cabin ship of the 4-star category with 99 double cabins of 14.5 m² each. The cabins are air-conditioned and are each equipped with a shower and flat-screen TV. The 70 units on the middle and upper deck have a French balcony. Four cabins can be equipped with an extra bed. The two lower decks are designed as pure living areas for the passengers. The 32 crew cabins are located fore and aft on the lower deck. On the bow side, a wellness area with an outdoor relaxation area and whirlpool was set up on the upper deck , followed by 26 double cabins. In the middle of the ship is the on-board shop and a sales office for shore excursions. The gastronomic area with lounge, wine bar, restaurant with open kitchen and bar are located in the rear half of the ship. The outdoor area of the restaurant with 56 seats is located in the rear part of the open deck. A putting green, a shuffleboard and a chess field have been created in the middle of the ship . On the front half of the ship, passengers have around 80 deck chairs behind the wheelhouse. Large parts of the open deck can be covered with awnings.

technology

A Schottel Pump-Jet is used in the bow for better maneuvering

The A-Rosa Viva is supported by four diesel engines Volvo Penta D12-450MH (KC) four double-bladed Z-Drive driven, in addition the vessel has a bow thruster of the type pump jet-SPJ 82 of Schottel , which is driven by a 405 kW diesel engine . The ship is 135 m long and 11.40 m wide. The draft is given as 1.60 m, the height above water with 6.50 m. By lowering the wheelhouse and moving the railings and sun sails, the height can be reduced for trips on bodies of water with low bridges such as the Moselle and the Main-Danube Canal . Two auxiliary diesel generators with 2 × 525 kVA are available for the on-board electrical system for supplying the auxiliary machines and hotel operations, and a diesel generator with 280 kVA is available for port operations.

Cruising areas

The three ships of the A-ROSA Rhine fleet operate on 30 different routes depending on the season. The northernmost destination is Harlingen am Wattenmeer , southernmost Basel . The Moselle is traveled to Trier . The ships are serviced in the Deutzer Hafen in Cologne and in Frankfurt am Main . The ships have not reached their home port in Rostock since the shipyard was handed over. The A-ROSA viva is (as of 2017) used on the Seine and starts from / to Saint-Denis (near Paris).
