Adalbert Albrecht Ernst Emil Freiherr von Schleinitz (born October 30, 1822 in Landsberg an der Warthe , † December 27, 1896 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Adalbert was a son of the Prussian major general Gustav von Schleinitz (1785-1858) and his wife Aurora, née von Braun (1798-1881).

Military career

Schleinitz visited the cadet houses in Potsdam and Berlin and was then transferred as a second lieutenant to the 3rd Dragoon Regiment of the Prussian Army . During the suppression of the Polish uprising in the province of Posen , he took part in the battles near Posen and Trzemeszno in 1848 . Schleinitz served as regimental adjutant for half a year, rose to Rittmeister by mid-March 1859 and became squadron chief in early July 1860 . With the promotion to major, he moved up to the regiment staff on January 11, 1866. In this position he took part in the battles near Münchengrätz , Königgrätz and Blumenau during the war against Austria in the same year and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, fourth class with swords.

On January 14, 1868 is first commissioned Schleinitz with the leadership of the 7th Westphalian Dragoons in Stendal , appointed him on 22 March the commander and promoted him in mid June 1869 to lieutenant colonel . In the war against France he led his association in 1870/71 at Beaumont , Sedan , Pierrefitte and before Toul and Paris . Awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class, Schleinitz was promoted to colonel after the peace treaty in mid-August 1871 . In approval of his resignation request , Schleinitz was put up for disposal on November 24, 1885, with the award of the Crown Order, 1st class with pension .

He died in Berlin on December 27, 1896 and was buried four days later in the Invalidenfriedhof .

family

Schleinitz married Marie von Schleinitz (1830–1915), a daughter of Johann Eduard von Schleinitz, in Breslau on October 15, 1854 . From the marriage the daughters Marie (* 1859), Elisabeth (* 1860), Lina (* 1864) and Clementine (* 1867) as well as the son Gustav (* 1872) emerged.
