Adam Friedrich von Kalckstein

Adam Friedrich von Kalckstein (born November 4, 1741 in Groß-Nappern ( Osterode district in East Prussia ); † June 8, 1808 in Glatz ) was a Prussian major general and gentleman on Klein-Gröben as well as gentleman on Groß-Skrau, which he lived on 26 Sold November 1799.

Life

His parents were the heir to Groß-Nappern and Klein-Gröben Anton von Kalckstein (* February 5, 1701; † 1749) and his second wife Lucretia Gerhardi, born von Traubenthal (* February 26, 1708; † February 12, 1775).

Military career

Kalckstein came on April 1, 1755 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "de la Motte" of the Prussian army . During the Seven Years' War he fought near Prague and Dittersbach and the sieges of Prague and Olomouc . He was captured in the Battle of Landeshut and did not return to his regiment until 1765. He had previously been promoted to ensign on January 15, 1758 and second lieutenant on June 20, 1763 .

After the war, Kalckstein became Premier Lieutenant on July 2, 1772, and as such took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . On September 15, 1782, he was promoted to staff captain and on January 1, 1784, he became captain and company commander . On May 27, 1790 he was promoted to major and in 1794 was appointed battalion commander. In 1794/95 he fought in Poland . After the war he was appointed lieutenant colonel on July 10, 1798 and regimental commander on October 11, 1798. In this position he was promoted to colonel on May 20, 1800 . Kalckstein received his resignation as major general on August 23, 1806 with a pension of 800 thalers. After his departure, he was given permission to wear his old regimental uniform on September 6, 1806. He died on June 18, 1808 in Glatz.

family

Kalckstein married Augustine Esther Theresia von Richardi on October 19, 1784 in Glatz (* May 22, 1766; † May 14, 1817). From the marriage the son Theophil Adam Karl (born June 2, 1786, † September 24, 1828 in Glatz) emerged, who embarked on a career in the Prussian Army and was adopted as captain. He married Cölestine Adelaide Luise von Rottenberg on April 8, 1817 (April 8, 1798 - January 30, 1859).

In 1813 his widow set up hospitals and cared for the wounded, for which she was praised by the king.
