Adamowice ( German Adamowitz ) is a district of Strzelce Opolskie (Groß Strehlitz) and a Schulzenamt of Gmina Strzelce Opolskie in Poland .

history

The place was first mentioned on March 29, 1235. In 1235, Duke Ladislaus von Opole gave the place to the knight Adam von Kukor, after whom the place was named. In 1408 Adamowitz became the property of Nicolaus Sittke, the custodian of the collegiate church in Oberglogau. But that same year he sold it on to Nicolaus Weichonis, the pastor of Groß Strehlitz. Since then, the place has been continuously owned by the parish of Groß Strehlitz.

The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Entries describing Silesia as Adamowitz and Adamsdorf , belonged to the pastor of Groß Strehlitz and was in the Groß Strehlitz district of the Principality of Opole . At that time he had 157 inhabitants, a grand Vorwerk , 14 peasants, 16 gardeners and cottagers . In 1865 Adamowitz consisted of a manor, a village and a hamlet. At that time the village had eleven farmers, 48 cottagers and 67 residents, as well as one Kretschmer (innkeeper) and seven professionals. The residents were parish and schooled in Groß Strehlitz. Fourteen cottagers lived in the hamlet (Adamowitz colony). In 1885 Adamowitz had 939 inhabitants.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 297 eligible voters voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 433 for membership in Poland. Adamowitz remained with the German Empire . On September 25, 1926 Adamowitz was incorporated into the city of Groß Strehlitz.

At that time there was already a correctional facility on the southern outskirts. About 500 meters away was the station area, and to the north stretched the premises of a cement factory. There was also a penal institution at the train station. There was a slaughterhouse on the eastern edge of the railway area. A hospital stood in a park-like setting on the south-eastern edge of the town.

Until 1945 Adamowitz belonged to the district of Groß Strehlitz . In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Adamowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Strzelecki .
