Addams Family - And the dear relatives , original title Addams Family Reunion , is an American comedy film from 1998 with the theme of the Addams Family . It is a direct-to-video production that was not a sequel to the two previous films Addams Family and The Addams Family in Crazy Tradition , but a remake of the pilot film for the 1998-1999 sitcom The New Addams Family . Cast includes Daryl Hannah as Morticia Addams and Tim Curry as Gomez Addams .

The film was never released on DVD or Blu-ray and is therefore only available on VHS cassette.

Gomez organizes a family reunion after learning that his grandparents have "Waltzheimer's Disease," and hopes that some family member will find a cure. Unfortunately, the company that organized the family reunion misspells his last name, and so comes a meeting with the Addams family, of which Dr. Phillip Addams plans to poison Gomez's father and change his will.

Gomez hopes that Dr. Addams can heal his grandparents. Morticia spends her time with the Addams women. Fester and Thing do their best to catch Butcher, a mutant puppy dog that feeds on human hair. Pugsley falls in love with the girl Gina.

criticism

The film service found that the film, whose "exchanged actors lacked the verve of the cinema original", suffered "from a lack of gags". TV Spielfilm judged that the “TV horror slapstick” was “just a copy of the macabre forerunners” and “only half as shrill as the iconic movie hits”. The film website kino.de remarked, apart from the changed line-up, “the film remains true to the usual program, indulges in a series of destructive jokes and presents the shrill gang with some nicely exaggerated yuppies as welcome victims”.
