action

The newly retired Wendel Overmann, a former mad reporter for a local newspaper in Munich, begins to doubt the meaning of life when he learns that he is not the biological son of his recently deceased mother, who always looked after him. Accustomed to doing thorough research, he soon finds out that towards the end of the Second World War the descendant of a count line was born, with whom he may have been exchanged.

Overmann really wants to find out who he really is. The fact that his best friend Louis has started an affair with his ex-wife Lydia helps him, because this is another motivation for him to leave his "old life" behind and to gain new insights, which may also suit him will bring them on new paths. Despite his age, nothing prevents him from breaking new ground.

Overmann uses a trick to get into the premises of the Felsen-Hepp family : He pretends to want to write a report on the Bavarian nobility. Shortly thereafter, he met Countess Walli and a change in the weather made him stay there for the night.

For the Countess, the unexpected guest is not inconvenient, because for a long time she has harbored a certain anger towards her husband, the Count, who likes to lose himself with others. Overmann's research does not go unnoticed by the suspicious housekeeper Rosemarie: She watches him every step of the way. In the meantime, however, Overmann got more and more used to his role of being the master of the house until the real count comes home and sees Overmann as a rival.
