Adventure Time - Adventure Time with Finn and Jake (original title; Adventure Time ) is an American animated series that was produced by Cartoon Network Studios from 2010 to 2018 . The pilot episode was in 2008 in the series Random! Cartoons shown as one of many short films at Nickelodeon. After the episode became increasingly popular on the Internet, Cartoon Network decided to produce an entire series.

The humorous adventure series combines elements from fantasy , fairy tales and science fiction . Adventure Time has received eight Emmys , two BAFTA Children's Awards , the Peabody Award, and three Annie Awards . In 2018, the series ended with the broadcast of the tenth, formerly known as the ninth, season. The last episode ran on September 3, 2018.

On October 23, 2019, four specials titled Adventure Time: Distant Lands were announced and will be released on HBO Max in 2020 .

content

The series recounts the adventures of the human boy Finn and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake, a talking dog with magical powers. The two live in the post-apocalyptic country of Ooo, which is teeming with mythical creatures, magical princesses and technical remnants of our world. Whether Princess Bubblegum is in need or the Ice King comes up with another sinister plan - Finn and Jake are always there when you need them and accept any challenge.

characters

  • Finn is a boy of 12 and now 17 who loves nothing more than adventure. He would like to be a hero and long ago vowed to help anyone in need and do good deeds. When he was little, he was raised by a dog family that includes his current dog friend Jake, who has magical powers.
  • Jake is a 28 year old dog who has magical powers. Its powers allow it to shrink, grow, bend, or transform into any shape imaginable. In addition, he always wears see-through trousers that he once received from goblins as a gift. Just like his best friend Finn, he loves to go on exciting adventures. With his powers, he can often help Finn when they are fighting someone.
  • Princess (Bonnibel) Bubblegum is a chewing gum humanoid, comparable to the inhabitants of the Candy Kingdom that she rules. You and Finn have a complex relationship. Finn had a crush on Bubblegum for a long time, and although she is very fond of him, she didn't reciprocate his feelings. The episode "What Was Missing" implies that she and Marceline had a relationship in the past. This later led to an online controversy about her and Marceline's sexual orientation. In the season two finale, "Mortal Recoil," after becoming obsessed with the lich, she broke up and was brought back to life at the age of 13 because doctors didn't have enough gum to rebuild her at her correct age. In the episode "Too Young" she turns 18 again when she picks up the body parts donated by the residents of the Candy Kingdom in order to regain her kingdom from the Count Lemon Tree (Duke Lemongrab). In the English original edition she occasionally speaks short German sentences, e.g. B. out of astonishment.
  • Lady Rainbow (Lady Rainicorn) is half rainbow and half unicorn and Jake's boyfriend. She can dye people and objects and belongs to Princess Bubblegum. She also speaks Korean, which Jake understands, but not Finn.
  • The Ice King is around 1000 years old and is constantly trying to kidnap the various princesses from Ooo in order to force them to marry. He has magical powers and can freeze things, create lightning, fly with his beard and create snow monsters. His greatest enemies are Finn and Jake, because they always try to thwart his sinister plans. He was originally human. Through a magical crown he lost his fiancée and his mind, at the same time he received the magical abilities that made him survive the nuclear war . His motive for action is his loneliness, and he envies Jake and Finn their friendship.
  • Marceline is the 1000 year old vampire queen. She always scares people for fun. In the episode The Handlanger you learn that she only pretends to be angry. Only Finn knows that she's actually a nice vampire . She also tells him that vampires don't have to drink blood, just something red. She has two bite marks on her neck because she was a half demon before the nuclear war. Before this war, she lived under the care of the Ice King (she was a child), who gave her a teddy bear that has been featured in some of the series' episodes until now.
  • Günther (Gunter) is the leader of the penguins and the servant of the Ice King. In reality, Günther is a powerful deity named Orgalorg who wanted to conquer the entire solar system. After losing the fight against Grob Gob Glob Grod, he fell to earth. The impact pressed him into the body of a penguin.
  • BMO (Beemo) is a talking video game console at Finn and Jake. BMO can transport people into video games and has functions of other devices, for example it can be a camera , a video recorder or an alarm clock . Despite his childish appearance, BMO is one of the most adult characters in the series. He'd also love to be a real boy, which is why he regularly speaks to his reflection in front of the mirror in Finn and Jake's bathroom (featured in some episodes).
  • Flame Princess is the 16 year old Princess of the Flame Kingdom and the daughter of the Flame King. She is one of Finn's friends. Like all other inhabitants of the Flame Kingdom, it is covered in fire. The flames emanating from her body are expansions of herself that intensify when she is emotionally aroused. Finn describes her as "passionate". She was Finn's first friend, but they separated from him after Finn incited her and the Ice King to fight each other.
  • Beulenweltprinzessin (Lumpy-Space Princess) is the daughter of the royal couple of Beulenwelt. It is a cloud-like creature that consists only of purple bumps. She is biased, very positive about herself, and likes to blaspheme others. Despite her rather male voice, she is confirmed as female.
