Agiads
The Agiaden ( ancient Greek Ἀγιάδαι Agiadai ) were beside the Eurypontidae one of the two royal houses of ancient Sparta .
They led to the mythical Heracles progeny Eurysthenes back, but were by his son, I. Agis named.
The Agiads were considered the nobler sex and were (especially in classical times) more dominant in the political life of Sparta than the Eurypontids ; Many important kings such as Cleomenes I , Leonidas I or the regent and general of Plataiai Pausanias came from their ranks .
