Ainhoa ​​Murúa Zubizarreta (born July 18, 1978 in Zarautz ) is a former Spanish triathlete . She is a four-time Olympic athlete (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016) and Vice European Champion on the Olympic short distance (2012).

Career

2004 Summer Olympics

Ainhoa ​​Murúa started in 2004, 2008 and 2012 in the triathlon for Spain at the Summer Olympics. In 2012, she achieved her best placement with seventh place.

Vice European Triathlon Champion 2012

In April 2012, she became European triathlon champion on the Olympic short distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) in Israel. In France she starts in the championship series Grand Prix de Triathlon for the TCG 79 Parthenay club .

In September 2013 Murúa became the Spanish triathlon champion. In July 2015 Murúa was third in the European Triathlon Championships on the Olympic distance in Geneva.

2016 Summer Olympics

Ainhoa ​​Murúa qualified for a place at the Summer Olympics for the fourth time in 2016; she competed for Spain with Carolina Routier and Miriam Casillas García in Rio de Janeiro on August 20, but could not finish the race. It has not appeared internationally since 2016. Ainhoa ​​Murúa lives in her birthplace Zarautz .
