Akıncılar (formerly Ezbider ) is a city and capital of the district of the same name ( İlçe ) in the province of Sivas . The place is about 120 km northeast of the provincial capital Sivas . According to the city seal, the place was raised to a municipality ( Belediye ) in 1956 .
The district Akıncılar is located in the northeast of the province, bordering the county Suşehri in the northwest and west, the county Imranli in the south and the circle Gölova the east. The border is formed by the province of Giresun in the north and the province of Erzincan in the south . Part of the northern border is formed by a branch of the Kılıçkaya Reservoir .
The D100 trunk road ( Amasya -Tokat-Koyulhisar-Suşehri-Refahiye- Erzincan ) runs through the north of the district , here as part of the E 80 .
The district was split off in 1990 together with Gölova district from the eastern part of Suşehri district. Until then, the Bucak Akıncılar was part of this district and had 11,255 inhabitants at the last census before the change of area (1985), which corresponds to 18.36% of the population of the Suşehri district at that time.
At the end of 2018, the Akıncılar district consisted of the district town and 29 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 104 residents. The scale of the population ranged from 396 ( Göllüce ) down to 14 ( Abdurrahman ), with nine villages having more than 104 (= average) inhabitants. The village of İkizyurt (2017: 50 inhabitants) has been a district (Mahalle) of the district capital since 2018. The population density was below the provincial value (of 23 inh. Per km²), the urban population was 46.77 percent.
