'Al-Nur' ( Arabic نور nūr ) means'the light'in German and is a reference to Sura 24 in the Koran . aims
The association has set itself the task of providing people, whether Muslim or non-Muslim, with "true and authentic Islam" according to their own interpretation in the form of a radical fundamentalist interpretation with weekly classes and annual seminars that take place in the Al-Nur mosque to teach. In addition to classes and seminars, the mosque association also offers Arabic language and writing courses and many communal leisure activities.
The imam of the mosque is Nasser El-Issa, who was born in Lebanon , and Izzeldin Hamad is the director.
criticism
In June 2009, the mosque came under public criticism for inviting the hate preacher Bilal Philips to give a lecture.
The Al-Nur mosque came under fire in July 2014 after a translation of a video was published on MEMRI -TV showing the Danish hate preacher Abu Bilal Ismail during an Arabic-language Friday sermon in the Berlin mosque, in which he called Gaza the " Land of Jihad ”as well as Jews as“ criminals ”and“ butchers of prophets ”. Furthermore, in this sermon he asks Allah for the annihilation of the Jews "down to the last", as they should sow tyranny and corruption . Due to numerous criminal charges for incitement to hatred , the Berlin public prosecutor initiated an investigation against the imam, as did the Danish police. Among the 15 complainants was Hakan Taş , the security policy spokesman for Die Linke in the Berlin House of Representatives , who also called on all other members of the federal and state parliament of Turkish origin to join the complaint.
In February 2015, an imam from Egypt , Abdel Moez al-Eila , preached in the Al-Nur Mosque that a woman should not go out, work or stay overnight without her husband's permission. He denied women the right to self-determination over their bodies, for example a woman should not refuse her husband sexual intercourse , a man should always use his wife's body for his satisfaction. The Turkish Federation of Berlin-Brandenburg then reported the imam for sedition and insult.
On February 25, 2015, the district assembly of Neukölln voted with a clear majority in favor of a ban application against the sponsoring association of the Al-Nur mosque. The Senate Department for Interior Affairs and Sport, which is responsible for association bans in Berlin, has been examining a ban on the sponsoring association since the end of January 2015, as announced.
