The Albin Köbis is a gaff ketch sailing under the German flag with home port Kiel . The ship is owned and operated by the “Traditionsegler Albin Köbis ” association based in Wendisch Rambow (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania). It is named after the sailor Albin Köbis .

history

The ship was built in 1948 in Barth at the Sanitz shipyard as a fishing vessel made of oak and christened Karl Krull . She served as a fishing trawler until the 1970s . From 1985 to 1990 it was transformed into a gaff rigged ketch . During the conversion, attention was paid to the sailing suitability of the traditional sailor. Today's operator is the traditional sailing association Albin Köbis .

In addition to the mainsail and top sail , the Albin Köbis has a mizzen sail , jib and jib . In addition to the propulsion system, a ship's diesel engine provides on-board power. The ship's regular sailing area is the Baltic Sea .

The Albin Köbis regularly participates in the Hanse Sail and also at the Rum Regatta ( museum port of Flensburg in part).
