Albrecht Konrad

Albrecht Konrad (* 1949 in Bielefeld ) is a German film architect . Since the 1980s he has worked on over 40 film and television productions.

Career

Albrecht Konrad began his career in the early 1980s with the equipment of the directorial work Monica Teubner ( Primel drives her house crazy and career , both 1979/80) and Stelvio Massi's thriller The Man Who Was Venice (1980), with Maurizio Merli and Jutta Speidel in the leading roles. This was followed by regular assignments for German film and television productions, for which he mainly worked as a set designer and art director, sometimes also as a prop master . In the beginning, these included episodes for Tatort (1983) and the series Hafenkante (1987) as well as the comedies Didi on Full Tour (1986), Otto - Der neue Film (1987), Otto - Der Ausserfriesische (1989) and Manta - Der Film (1991). A long-term collaboration connects Albrecht Konrad with Helmut Dietl ( Kir Royal , Rossini , Late Show , Vom sucht undfind der Liebe ), Max Färberböck ( Aimée & Jaguar , Jenseits ) and Dror Zahavi ( The Airlift , The Mysterious Treasure of Troja , My Life - Marcel Reich-Ranicki ). He also created the buildings for Wim Wenders ' award-winning drama In Far Far Away, So Close! (1993) or Uli Edel's heroic epic The Nibelungs (2004).

Albrecht Konrad achieved his first international success for his sets for Christian Duguay's multi-part television series Hitler - Aufstieg des Böse (2003), which earned him an Emmy and a nomination for the American Art Directors Guild . His greatest success so far was the set for Roman Polański's thriller Der Ghostwriter (2010), which was filmed in the Babelsberg film studios near Potsdam and on the German islands of Usedom , Rømø and Sylt . He won the European Film Award and a César nomination for the film adaptation of Robert Harris ' novel of the same name .

Albrecht Konrad lives in Berlin .
