Location of Albshausen in Solms
|
Albshausen is a district of the city of Solms in the Lahn-Dill district in Central Hesse .
Geographical location
Albshausen is located on a southern slope of the Lahn . In the north the Lahn borders the place and in the south the wooded mountain ridges of the Hintertaunus . To the east, the Steindorf district of Wetzlar borders Albshausen. The highest point is the Johannisberg at 239 meters (above sea level).
history
The village is first mentioned in the Lorsch Codex around the year 800 as Alboldeshusen , located in the Wanendorfer Mark , the area around the Lahn between Wetzlar and Solms. In the village there were verifiable possessions of the Altenberg monastery , the Marienstift zu Wetzlar, the Counts of Solms and the Weilburg monastery.
The development of Albshausen was influenced by the construction of the road from Burgsolms to Wetzlar in 1781 and the opening of the Lahntalbahn in 1863, which since then, together with the train station, has marked the northern development boundary. An economic factor was the ore mining in the pits around the village. The Albshausen train station was also a transshipment point for raw materials from the neighboring villages. The Evangelical Church was completed in 1930 in the style of baroque historicism .
After 1945 the population development of the village was influenced by the influx of refugees and displaced persons , which resulted in numerous settlements.
Territorial reform
In the course of administrative reform in Hesse , the previously independent community Albshausen and Oberbiel joined voluntarily merged to Biel Hausen together . On January 1, 1977, the merger with Niederbiel and Solms to form the newly created large community of Solms followed by state law .
