Alexander Nikolajewitsch Uvarow ( Russian Александр Николаевич Уваров ; born March 20, 1922 in Odojew Rajon , Tula Governorate , Russian SFSR ; † December 24, 1994 ) was a Russian - Soviet ice hockey player and coach .

Career

Uvarov began his career in 1948 at Dynamo Moscow and quickly established itself as one of the best scorers in the Soviet Hockey League, the Klass A . Most of the time he played with Valentin Kusin and Yuri Krylow in a row. He won the Soviet championship title with Dynamo Moscow in 1954 , was runner-up in 1950, 1951, 1959 and 1960 and took third place in the championship with the team in 1949, 1952, 1953, 1955, 1956, 1957 and 1958. In 1955 and 1956 he reached the finals of the USSR Cup competition with Dynamo. In total, he scored 203 goals in 259 league games, including 21 hat tricks . He was one of the fastest strikers in the Soviet league of the 1950s.

In 1954 he was appointed to the Soviet national team and on January 29, 1954, he played the Soviet Union's first official international match against Finland , scoring the Sbornaja's very first goal at the World Cup. His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo , and he also won one gold and two silver medals at world championships . For the national team, he scored 18 goals in 81 international matches. On November 5, 1957, he played his last international match. In 1954 he was named the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR .

In the 1965/66 season he looked after Torpedo Podolsk from the Wtoraja League as head coach.
