Alex Gersbach (born May 8, 1997 in Auburn City ) is an Australian football player . It is currently awarded to the RC Lens . He has also played for the Australian national football team since 2016 .

Career

Sydney FC

In July 2014, Sydney signed FC Gersbach for two years. First he received the jersey number 13, but later swapped with Christopher Naumoff, who wore the number 16. Gersbach made his professional debut for the club on August 12, 2014, at the age of 17 years and 3 months, in the FFA Cup round of 32 against Melbourne City FC . Sydney FC won 3-1 after extra time.

He also made his league debut against Melbourne City on October 11, 2014, when he came on for Matthew Jurman after 69 minutes. The game ended 1-1. For the 2015/16 season, Gersbach received jersey number 3.

Rosenborg BK

In January 2016, Gersbach joined the Norwegian first division club Rosenborg BK . He made his Tippeliga debut for Rosenborg on March 19, 2016 in the home game against Strømsgodset IF , in which he played a full 90 minutes. Rosenborg won 1-0. Gersbach wears jersey number 20 and was Norwegian Champion , Norwegian Cup winner and Norwegian Super Cup winner in his first year .

National team

On September 25, 2015 Gersbach was selected to play for the Young Socceroos in the U-19 AFC qualification. In March 2016 Gersbach was nominated for the first time for the senior national team , there he was part of the squad in the World Cup qualification on March 24, 2016 against Tajikistan and on March 29, 2016 against Jordan , but was not used. On June 4, 2016, Gersbach made his debut for Australia against Greece . He came on in the 82nd minute for Brad Smith and prepared the goal for the 1-0 final score by Mathew Leckie . Gersbach was part of the Australian squad for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup . There he was in the starting line-up in the group game against Cameroon .
