Alexander Vinogradow ( Russian Александр Виноградов ; * 1976 in Moscow ) is a Russian opera singer (bass).

Life

He received piano lessons at an early age and later also played the clarinet. Despite his musical inclinations, he first studied physics and mathematics before he decided to study singing at the Moscow Conservatory . In 1997 he received the 3rd prize at the International Competition Classica Nova In Memoriam Dmitri Schostakowitsch in Hanover. During his studies he was engaged as a permanent member of the Moscow Bolshoi Theater and made his operatic debut as Oroveso in Bellini's Norma at the age of 21 .

At the beginning of his career at the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden he worked as Figaro ( Le nozze di Figaro ), Sarastro ( Die Zauberflöte ), Escamillo ( Carmen ), Leporello ( Don Giovanni ), Pimen ( Boris Godunow ), Colline ( La Bohème) ), Don Basilio ( Il barbiere di Siviglia ), Banquo ( Macbeth ), Selim ( Il turco in Italia ), Timur ( Turandot ), Padre Guardiano ( La forza del destino ) and Oroveso ( Norma ).

Since 2000 he sang at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, at the Opéra National de Paris , at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, at the Arena di Verona , at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, at the Hamburg State Opera , at the Teatro Real in Madrid, at the Théâtre du Châtelet , at the Semperoper Dresden, at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

His repertoire includes roles such as Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, Escamilio in Carmen , Filippo II in Don Carlo , Silva in Ernani , Pimen in Boris Godunow, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, Oroveso in Norma, Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Daland in The Flying Dutchman , Banquo in Macbeth , Don Giovanni, Masetto and Leporello in Don Giovanni, Il Conte Walther in Luisa Miller , Lodovico in Otello , Padre Guardiano in La forza del destino, Selim in Il turco in Italia, Orest in Elektra , Timur in Turandot and Mephistopheles in Faust .

In addition to his opera appearances, he also gave concerts, including performances of Beethoven's Missa solemnis with the Bach Collegium Stuttgart , Beethoven's 9th Symphony in Madrid and Turin, Verdi's Messa da Requiem with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra , at the Verdi Festival in Parma and with the tour of the Teatro alla Scala at the Vienna State Opera , Mussorgsky's Songs and Dances of Death at the Opéra de Lyon , Shostakovich's 13th Symphony with the Staatskapelle Berlin , as well as in concerts with the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin , the Baltimore Philharmonic Orchestra and the lot Angeles Symphony Orchestra.
