Alexander Friedrich Robert Wischer (born September 5, 1823 in Eckartsberga ; † April 11, 1904 in Meran ) was a Prussian major general and inspector of the 8th fortress inspection.

Life

Alexander was a son of the river toll collector Johann Wischer († 1831) and his wife Dorothea, née Giesenschlag († 1835).

Military career

After the early death of his parents, Wischer came to the military orphanage in Potsdam and learned the profession of lithographer . On October 1, 1840 he joined the school department of the Infantry Training Battalion of the Prussian Army and was transferred to the 37th Infantry Regiment (5th Reserve Regiment) in Thorn on May 3, 1841 . He avacierte until April 22, 1843 Patent of July 27, 1842 supernumerary second lieutenant . On June 29, 1843, Wischer was aggregated with a patent from May 4, 1843 of the 3rd Engineer Inspection and, from October 1843, was sent to the United Artillery and Engineering School for further training . He then came to the 1st Reserve Pioneer Company in Luxembourg in mid-May 1845 and was assigned at the end of March 1846. This was followed by a use in the 8th pioneer department from mid-March 1848. In 1849, during the suppression of the Baden Revolution , Wischer took part in the battles near Philippsburg , Waghäusel , Neudorf and Durlach .

With the transfer to the 1st engineer inspection, Wischer was ordered to fortify in Kolberg on February 18, 1851 and promoted to prime lieutenant at the end of June 1852 . On June 24, 1852 he was transferred to the 1st pioneer department. On June 22, 1853, he came to Danzig for fortification services . He was promoted to captain on February 16, 1856, and on January 9, 1858, he was commander of the 1st Company of the 1st Engineer Division. He took part in the German-Danish War . Subsequently, from July 3 to October 18, 1865 he was commanded to represent the engineer officer from the Platz nach Graudenz and in the meantime was appointed garrison construction director of the 1st Army Corps on August 7, 1865 . He rose to major on September 12, 1865 and returned to Graudenz on October 19, 1865 as an engineer officer. Promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1868 , he came to Koblenz fortress as an engineer officer on April 3, 1869 . During the war against France , in the run-up to the siege of Paris on October 8, 1870 , Wischer became chief of staff of the engineer en chief of the siege army on the southern front off Paris. For this he received the Iron Cross 2nd class on January 9, 1871 .

After the war he came on 25 April 1871 again as an engineer officer of the court to Koblenz and received on August 18, 1871 the character as a colonel . On April 12, 1873, he received the patent for his rank dated August 18, 1871. In addition, he was transferred to Altona as inspector of the 8th fortress inspection and was promoted to major general on March 22, 1876 in this capacity. Under awarded the Red Eagle , he was on 13 October 1877. II. Class with oak board for disposition made.

He died on April 11, 1904 in Merano.

family

Wischer married Adelheid Emilie Witt (1841–1914) in Danzig on June 28, 1862. The marriage remained childless.
