Alexsandro do Nascimento de Melo (born February 26, 1995 ) is a Brazilian athlete who competes in the long and triple jump .

Athletic career

Alexsandro Melo gained his first international experience at the Junior South American Championships 2013 in Resistencia , where he won the gold medal in the triple jump with a wind-assisted width of 16.24 m. In 2015 he took part in the long jump at the Pan American Games in Toronto for the first time, but was eliminated there with 7.51 m in qualification. He also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing and did not make a valid attempt there in the preliminary round . In 2018 he won the bronze medal in the long jump at the South American Games in Cochabamba with a distance of 8.09 m behind Uruguayan Emiliano Lasa and his compatriot Paulo Sérgio Oliveira . He then took fifth place in the long jump at the Ibero-American Championships in Trujillo with 7.75 m and won the bronze medal in the triple jump with 15.94 m behind the Cuban Cristian Nápoles and Pablo Torrijos from Spain. The following year he took part in the Summer Universiade in Naples , where he won the bronze medal in the triple jump with 16.57 m behind Nazim Babayev from Azerbaijan and his compatriot Mateus de Sá , while he finished eleventh in the long jump with 7.54 m . He then came fourth in the long jump at the Pan American Games in Lima with 7.77 m and came eighth in the triple jump with 16.23 m. In the triple jump he also qualified for the World Championships , but missed the finals there with 16.26 m . At the end of October he took part in the World Military Games in Wuhan , where he was classified in seventh place in the triple jump with 16.46 m and tenth in the long jump with 7.54 m.

In 2020 he won the first indoor South American Championships in Cochabamba with 8.08 m in the long jump and with 17.10 m also in the triple jump.

In 2017 and 2018 Melo was Brazilian champion in the triple jump and in 2018 also in the long jump.
