Alfons Heinrich of Portugal
Alfons Heinrich, Duke of Porto (Portuguese Dom Afonso Henrique Maria Luís Pedro de Alcântara Carlos Humberto Amadeu Fernando António Miguel Rafael Gabriel Gonzaga Xavier Francisco de Assis João Augusto Júlio Valfando Inácio de Sabóia Saxe-Coburgo-Gotha e Bragança ; * July 31, 1865 in Lisbon ; † February 21, 1920 in Naples ) was an infant from Portugal from the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and Duke of Porto.
Life
Alfons Heinrich was born as the second son of Ludwig I of Portugal (1838–1889) and his wife Maria Pia of Savoy (1847–1911). He only held the title of Viceroy of Portuguese India , of which he was the last holder, only in 1896. When the first Portuguese republic was proclaimed in 1910 , Alfons went into exile with the rest of the royal family in Great Britain , but soon traveled to Italy , where he married the American Nevada Stoody Hayes in Rome in 1917 . The marriage remained childless.
