Alfred Vinzenz Ziętkiewicz , from 1894 by Ziętkiewicz (born November 7, 1843 in Woroniów , Galicia , Austrian Empire ; † May 7, 1906 in Pressburg ) was a kk major general .

Life

Alfred Ziętkiewicz was born as the son of the couple and landowners Ludwig and Albina Ziętkiewicz in Woroniów.

He received his military training at the Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt and from there joined the 2nd cuirassier regiment Wrangel in 1863 as second lieutenant . There he was first lieutenant in 1866 and was adjutant to Colonel Count Tassilo Festetics de Tolna . With the regiment he took part in the battle of Königgrätz in the same year . In September 1867 he moved to the Hussar Regiment Count Radetzky No. 5 and was promoted to Rittmeister 1st class there in 1877 . In August 1885 he switched to the Military Riding Instructor Institute as a riding instructor . At the beginning of November 1886 he was promoted to the position of major and three years later to lieutenant colonel . His release from use in 1890 was followed by his assignment in the Hussar Regiment No. 11 and, in recognition of his work as a riding instructor, he was awarded the Military Merit Cross . In 1892 he was named Lieutenant Colonel Colonel III. Regimental commander of Dragoon Regiment No. 11 . He held this position until 1897. At the end of April 1896, he was awarded the Order of the Iron Crown, 3rd class. In October of the same year he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class. He was assigned to the 16th Cavalry Brigade in Pressburg . In late October 1898, he was promoted to major general. He retired on April 1, 1900.

Ziętkiewicz married in Prague in 1872 the daughter of Emanuel Broudré (1814–1879), merchant, imperial councilor and assessor of the Imperial and Royal Commercial Court in Prague, Anna Broudré (* 1852 in Prague). There is a daughter from the marriage who was born in Vienna in 1873 . Ziętkiewicz's wife Anna died of child bed fever in Vienna in 1873 and was buried in the Broudré family crypt in Saaz , Bohemia . Anna Ziętkiewicz is the aunt of Colonel Karl Broudre von Goruszów and a cousin of JUDr. Franz Max Broudre . Her sister was Emma Stradal, wife of JUDr. and President of ATE Franz Carl Stradal in Teplitz .

In 1906 von Ziętkiewicz was buried in the Andreas cemetery in Pressburg. The epitaph reads:

Alfred Zietkiewicz received the Austrian (hereditary) nobility Edler von and a coat of arms from Emperor Franz Joseph I on April 23, 1894 .
