The Noobs - small but common is an American children - Adventure - science fiction film from the year 2009 .

action

The head of the family, Stuart, decides that he and his wife Nina and children Hannah, Tom and Bethany should have more time for each other and rents a three-story house in the middle of nowhere. They are joined by Uncle Nate, his son Jake, dear old Nana Rose and the identical twelve-year-old twins Art and Lee. And as a surprise guest, Bethany's friend Ricky Dillman turns up in the villa. As evening falls, a storm is brewing over the house.

Suddenly, four glowing objects with the tough commander Skip, the heavily armed muscle man Spike, the female killer machine Razor and Spark, a harmless four-armed technology fool on board, land on the roof of the house. Ricky becomes the first victim of the little creatures. They implant a device in his brain with which they can control his activities. The noobs now reach for world domination via Ricky and control him remotely like a robot zombie to capture Tom and Jake, but the boys manage to escape.

It doesn't take long before all five children know about the mysterious newcomers and the young people realize that the noobs can only control the adults with their mind control machine. Under Tom's command they now want to drive away the intruders and to protect the adults by keeping the existence of the aliens a secret. With all means at their disposal, they fight back and make useful weapons, such as a potato cannon. They soon find out how to use the mind control device and harness Ricky for their own purposes. So they manage to use his idiotic robot zombie actions as their best weapon against the noobs.

The adults have no idea of this and believe that the children are just acting like normal children. So that they get other thoughts, the parents insist on a fishing trip together. In the middle of these turbulent events, however, a deep friendship develops between Hannah and Spark, the friendly noobs with the four arms and hands. In contrast to his comrades, he has little interest in fighting and really just wants to go home to his family.

Then Nana Rose comes under the influence of the mind control machine, which equips her with superhuman powers. She rushes to the kids' aid and has to compete with Ricky, whom the noobs have brought back under their control. Nana Rose gives Ricky a hard blow which causes the implant in his brain to go out of control. And then Spark takes the side of the children and cleverly uses his four arms to develop weapons that can be used effectively against the intruders. The fight escalates and with it the danger, the action and the laughs. The kids use their chance and show what they can do. And so it quickly becomes clear that the noobs actually had no real chance from the start.

criticism

“Solid children's film that aims more at laughter than at fright. Realistic (family) conflicts give the characters a certain contour and underpin the confidently staged and choreographed comedy of the adventurous plot. "

“What at first seems like a new edition of ' Mr. Hobbs is on vacation ' soon turns out to be outrageous nonsense for small children who can perhaps still laugh at such stupid jokes. Good comedies that are also suitable for families, however, look different. But what else can you expect from a director like John Schultz (' Drive Me Crazy ', ' Like Mike ', ' Honeymooners ')? "
