action

Mary Horowitz still lives with her parents and develops crossword puzzles for the daily newspaper Sacramento Herald . While she does her job brilliantly, she is rather neurotic about interpersonal relationships : When her parents find her a blind date with the charming cameraman Steve, Mary falls head over heels in love and wants to make it with Steve in the car seat. But Steve, who is not at all enthusiastic about the chatty Mary, is lucky: his cell phone rings at the right time and he is informed that he has to travel to Boston for an assignment . Unfortunately, Steve tells Mary about it and adds that it is a pity that she cannot come with us. But Mary doesn't have to be told twice: completely fixated on Steve, she publishes a crossword puzzle that is all about him, loses her job and then decides to join him. The reporter Hartman, who travels with Steve, makes fun of it from now on, confirming again and again Mary how in love Steve is with her despite his ranting, because he wants to see his colleagues suffer. When Mary accidentally falls into a mine shaft, she and Hartman themselves become part of a television report. Mary is eventually saved and realizes that she doesn't need Steve to be happy.

More reviews:

“The hysteria of Sandra Bullock's character gets on your nerves quickly, and the gags hardly ignite either. There can be no recommendation for that. "

- Editorial office of cinema.de

"This comedy features crossword puzzle inventor Mary Horowitz, embodied by Bullock, one of the most annoying heroines that has ever seen the light of day."

- Editing of filmstarts.de

"Crazy about Steve is an absolutely weird, but very touching plea for all Marys in this world!"

- Editing of moviesection.de

“Half-baked comedy whose over-the-top, full of contradictions, is as implausible as the implausible plot. The staging's attempt to stylize its pitiable protagonist as a comic heroine failed on the whole. "
