Almog Cohen ( Hebrew אלמוג כהן, Born September 1, 1988 in Beersheba ) is an Israeli soccer player who is under contract with Maccabi Netanja .
Career
societies
Beginning in Israel
Cohen started his career at Beitar Tubruk and moved to Maccabi Netanja in 2006 . In 2007 he made the jump to the U21 national team.
1. FC Nuremberg
In spring 2010 he signed a three-year contract with Bundesliga club 1. FC Nürnberg . In the first half of the 2010/11 season he was used regularly and played his first 90-minute game on the last first half of the season . In the second half of the season he almost always started from the beginning. On January 29, 2011 (30th matchday) he scored his first competitive goal for 1. FC Nürnberg in the league game against Hamburger SV with the goal to make it 2-0. In April 2011, Cohen extended his contract to June 30, 2014.
Loan to Hapoel Tel Aviv
At the beginning of February it was announced that Cohen would be loaned to the Israeli football club Hapoel Tel Aviv at his own request until the summer of 2013 .
FC Ingolstadt 04
The loan contract lasted only five months, as Cohen opted for the second division club FC Ingolstadt 04 , which provided him with a three-year contract. Despite the relegation of his club to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2017 , he extended the contract period by three years ahead of time until June 30, 2021.
Return to the Homeland
After relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga, team captain Cohen prematurely terminated his contract after six years in Ingolstadt in the summer of 2019 and returned to his first professional club Maccabi Netanja.
National team
On September 2, 2010 Cohen was appointed to the senior national team of Israel for the first time . He made his debut that day (over 90 minutes) in the European Championship qualifier against the Maltese national team , which ended with a 3-1 win for Israel; since then he has been regularly appointed to the Israeli selection.

Style of play
Because of his aggressive duel and his outward appearance, he is also called Gattuso of Israel , based on the Italian footballer Gennaro Gattuso . In fact, Cohen calls Gattuso his idol and has had a hairstyle and beard cut similar to the Italian.

His start in Germany was difficult due to a lack of knowledge of German. As a devout Jew, he was able to eat almost exclusively vegetarian in the first few months, as it was difficult for him to find kosher meat. He later found a source of supply in Frankfurt am Main .
As fans of Cohen to its support for the first leg against the April 26, 2015 1.
