Amadeu Paulo Samuel da Conceição (born May 8, 1960 in Chonguene ) is a Mozambican diplomat .

Life

In 1978 he joined the Mozambican Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1979 he worked in the department for Europe and America of the ministry. At the same time he obtained a bachelor's degree in international relations from the Higher Institute of International Relations in Maputo from 1978 to 1983 . In 1982/1983 he was employed as an attaché in the permanent mission of Mozambique to the United Nations in New York City . In 1983 he was promoted to third secretary. In 1984 he went to the Mozambique embassy in the GDR in Berlin , where he worked until 1989 and was promoted to second or first secretary.

From 1990 to 1991 he was interim chargé d' affaires at the Mozambican embassy in Bonn .

In 1991 he went back to Mozambique and worked as an assistant to the foreign minister. In February 1992 he became Head of the Department for Europe and North America at the Department of State. From October 1992 to September 1994 he was Director for Africa and the Middle East .

In September 1994 he became the Mozambican ambassador to Italy and Greece , based in Rome . He was also a permanent representative of his country to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the International Fund for Agricultural Development . He held these offices until January 1999. He graduated from the St. John's University in Rome with a degree in international relations.

From February 1999 to June 2002 he was Director of the Mozambican Protocol. From June 2002 to October 2004 he became Ambassador to Brazil with headquarters in Brasilia and secondary accreditations in Argentina and Chile . He was State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until February 2007 and then became Ambassador to Cuba until September 2011 .

In November 2011, he was ambassador to Germany with headquarters in Berlin . Additional accreditations existed from December 2011 with the Holy See , from July 2012 in Austria , from 2013 in the Czech Republic and Hungary and from 2015 in Poland .

In 2018 he became the Mozambican ambassador to Switzerland based in Geneva . At the same time he became permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva. On February 20, 2019, he also became Permanent Representative of Mozambique to the United Nations in Vienna .

Personal

Amadeu Paulo Samuel da Conceição is married and has two children. In addition to Portuguese , he speaks German , English , French , Italian and Spanish .
