Amilton Manoel da Silva

Amilton Manoel da Silva CP (born March 2, 1963 in Osvaldo Cruz , state of São Paulo ) is a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Guarapuava .

Life

Amilton Manoel da Silva joined the Congregation of the Passionists in. From 1992 to 1995 he studied philosophy at the Universidade Federal do Paraná in Curitiba and from 1997 to 2000 Catholic theology at the Instituto Teológico São Paulo (ITESP). On January 18, 1997, Amilton Manoel da Silva made his profession and on December 17, 2000 he received the sacrament of ordination from the Archbishop of Mariana , Luciano Pedro Mendes de Almeida SJ .

After his ordination, Amilton Manoel da Silva worked in the training of the Passionist postulants . From 2006 to 2012 he was novice master and from 2009 he was also provincial councilor. From 2013 to 2016 Amilton Manoel da Silva was Provincial Superior of the Calvário Order Province of the Passionists, based in São Paulo . He was also pastor of the parish of São Paulo da Cruz in the Archdiocese of São Paulo .

On June 7, 2017 Pope appointed him Francis to the titular of Tusuros and auxiliary bishop in Curitiba . The Archbishop of Curitiba, José Antônio Peruzzo , donated him episcopal ordination on August 19 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the auxiliary bishop in São Paulo, Eduardo Vieira dos Santos , and the bishop of Pemba , Luiz Fernando Lisboa CP. On July 8, 2019, the Pope appointed him a member of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life for five years .

On May 6, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Guarapuava. The inauguration took place on July 18 of the same year.
