Amphoe Ban Na Doem ( Thai : อำเภอ บ้านนาเดิม ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the center of the Province ( Changwat ) Surat Thani . The province of Surat Thani is located in the southern region of Thailand , about 650 km south of Bangkok on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula to the Gulf of Thailand .

Neighboring districts (clockwise from north): the Amphoe Mueang Surat Thani , Ban Na San , Khian Sa and Phunphin . All Amphoe are in Surat Thani Province.

The Maenam Tapi (Tapi River) forms part of the western border of the district. A smaller river is called Khlong Lamphun ( คลอง ลำพูน ).

history

Lamphun District, one of the original districts of Surat Thani Province, was administered from Ban Na City, which is now the center of Ban Na Doem County. On July 1, 1938, however, the administration was transferred to Na San, the following year the district was renamed Ban Na San.

On April 15, 1976, the area around Ban Na was separated from Ban Na San County and a new subdistrict ( King Amphoe ) was established from it. The subdistrict originally consisted of the two tambon Ban Na and Tha Ruea. On August 15, 1982 Tambon Sap Thawi became from Tha Ruea, on July 1, 1983 Na Tai was separated from Ban Na. On May 21, 1990, the subdistrict was promoted to Amphoe.

Local administration

Ban Na ( เทศบาล ตำบล บ้านนา ) is the name of a small town ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district, it consists of parts of the tambon Ban Na and Na Tai.

There are also four "Tambon Administration Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ) for the Tambon or the parts of Tambon in the county that do not belong to any town.
