The Khlong Phraya wildlife sanctuary is located on the border with Plai Phraya .
history
The district was established in 1896 as part of Monthon Nakhon Si Thammarat. The following year it was downgraded, along with the neighboring I-Pan district, to a tambon under the administration of Amphoe Lamphun (now Amphoe Ban Na San ). When Monthon administrator Phraya Sukhumnaiwinit ( พระยา สุขุม นัย วินิจ , also: Pan Sukhum, ปั้น สุขุม , later Chao Phraya Yommarat, เจ้าพระยา ยมราช ) visited the district in 1899 , he noticed that Amphoe Lamphun was too large to be effectively administered to become. So he set up the Phrasaeng district again, which consisted of the two tambon Phrasaeng and I-Pan. In 1906 Phrasaeng was subordinated to the Mueang Chaiya, today's Surat Thani Province.
On August 1, 1938, Phrasaeng was demoted to a subdistrict ( King Amphoe ). Since the administration in Ban Sai Khueng ( บ้าน ไทร ขึง ) was difficult to reach for the population, it was moved to Ban Yan Din Daeng ( บ้าน ย่าน ดินแดง ) around 1940 . In 1958, Phrasaeng again received full amphoe status.
etymology
The name of the circle comes from an event that occurred when it was founded. The government sent an officer named Phrasaeng Phiram ( พระแสง ภิรมย์ ) to oversee the construction of the administration building. When the pit was dug for the foundation, a sword was found which, due to its peculiar shape, was recognized as a royal sword. It was called Phrasaeng Dab ( พระ แสงดาบ , roughly: "the sword Phrasaeng") and it was exhibited in the administration building. The district was also named after the official. However, since this sword has disappeared today, one is not sure whether this may not have been just a legend.
