history

On September 23, 1992, the Minister of the Interior gave his consent to the formation of the office of Schenkendöbern and the surrounding area, with its seat in the non-official city of Guben . The date on which the office was established was October 1, 1992. At the time of its establishment, the office comprised the following communities in what was then the Guben district :

At the time of its establishment, the Schenkendöbern office had 3812 inhabitants. On March 1, 1996, the seat of the office in Schenkendöbern was moved from Guben to the municipality of Schenkendöbern. On May 28, 1998, the new municipality of Gastrose-Kerkwitz was formed from the communities of Kerkwitz and Groß Gastrose . On December 31, 1998, the communities of Lübbinchen, Pinnow, Reicherskreuz and Staakow merged to form the new community of Pinnow-Heideland . Also on December 31, 1998, the amalgamation of the municipalities of Grano, Groß Drewitz, Krayne, Lauschütz, Schenkendöbern and Sembten to form the new municipality of Lutzketal became legally effective.

On July 18, 2002, the Ministry of the Interior of Brandenburg approved the merger of the communities of Atterwasch, Bärenklau, Grabko, Lutzketal and Pinnow-Heideland to form the new community of Schenkendöbern, which only became legally effective on October 26, 2003. Also on October 26, 2003, the Gastrose-Kerkwitz community was incorporated into the newly formed Schenkendöbern community. The office of Schenkendöbern was dissolved, and the community of Schenkendöbern was vacant. The communities of Pinnow-Heideland, Lutzketal and Gastrose-Kerkwitz were also dissolved. The 15 official municipalities became districts of the municipality of Schenkendöbern. The 16th district was Taubendorf, which was incorporated into Groß Gastrose on February 1, 1974.
