history

A court in Eltville is first documented in 1227. At that time it consisted of the mayor and 14 lay judges (in the 17th century: 7). Upper and Lower Walluf and Neuendorf belonged to the judicial district. The court in Eltville was under the seat of the Vitztum and two nobles at the same time Oberhof for the communities of the Rheingau and some places left of the Rhine. This function, which is documented from 1383-1515, ended in 1534 when all the upper courts in Kurmainz were abolished. In 1770 jurisdiction was passed to the new magistrates (in Erbach and Geisenheim), with the exception of a small number of remains .

In the Duchy of Nassau , the offices performed both an administrative function and that of a court of first instance. In Eltville, the office of Eltville was the court of first instance.

In the course of the separation of the judiciary and administration following the Prussian annexation of the Duchy of Nassau, the Rheingau district was established on September 1, 1867 for administration and the royal Prussian district court of Eltville for jurisdiction. His district included the simultaneously dissolved office Eltville and thus consisted of the city of Eltville and the places Erbach , Hallgarten , Hattenheim , Kiedrich , Mittelheim , Neudorf , Niederwalluf , Oberwalluf , Oestrich and Rauenthal . This dish belonged initially to the district of the District Court Wiesbaden came about because of the Judicature Act , effective October 1, 1879 change in the district of the newly established District Court Wiesbaden , at the same time, the district of the Eltviller District Court reduced the the District Court Rudesheim allocated places Hallgarten, Hattenheim, Mittelheim and Oestrich.

On June 15, 1943, the Eltville District Court was converted into a branch of the Rüdesheim District Court as part of emergency war measures, but was re-established as a full court on August 1, 1949. On August 11, 1972, Hattenheim, which was incorporated into Eltville as part of the regional reform in Hesse, returned to its district court.

On 1 January 2005 the District Court Eltville was finally abolished as a full court and the place of his district Walluf the Wiesbaden District Court risen, Eltville and Kiedrich now formed the district of the branch Eltville of the District Court Rudesheim am Rhein .
