André Thiele

André Thiele (born June 11, 1968 in Hamburg ) is a German author , journalist and publisher .

Life

Thiele grew up in Wiesbaden and in the Taunus , graduated from high school in Idstein and did his community service there. After being accepted into the German National Academic Foundation , he first studied medicine in Mainz and then switched to law. He worked as a permanent and freelance employee of lobby associations and law firms in Frankfurt am Main, Brussels, Hamburg and Athens, especially in the field of renewable energy law, but did not complete his studies. He was also the long-time coordinator of a development aid association with a focus on Tanzania / East Africa. Thiele is divorced twice and has a daughter.

From 1996 he wrote articles for various magazines and agencies, such as Evangelischer Pressedienst , Droit & Affaires , Konkret , Junge Welt , the daily newspaper , Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Die Zeit .

In 1997 Thiele contacted the playwright Peter Hacks by letter regarding a factual issue and from then on supported him in literary research until his death in 2003. The entire correspondence was published by Eulenspiegel Verlag in 2012 .

In July 2015, Thiele reported the commercial bankruptcy of his publishing house and reported himself to the public prosecutor's office for fraud and breach of trust. In 2017 he converted to Catholicism . On December 29, 2017, the Mainz public prosecutor brought charges of breach of trust before the Mainz regional court.

VAT Verlag André Thiele

In 2005, Thiele founded the VAT Verlag André Thiele in Mainz , which is programmatically oriented towards the standards of "classical thinking and creating based on rationality, clarity and humanism".

In addition, the publisher has run projects that deal with the research and reception of the poet Peter Hacks, such as the Neue Klassik edition and, since 2007, the biannual hacks journal ARGOS .

In 2011 the publisher started a work by Saul Ascher .

The VAT Verlag André Thiele presented 2015 "lack of economic prospects" ceasing activity, and was liquidated.
