Rolf Åke Andreas Dahl (born June 6, 1984 in Hässleholm ) is a former Swedish football player . The midfielder , who made his debut for the Swedish national team in 2008 , left his home country for the Danish Superliga that same year .

Career

Adolescent years

Dahl played at IFK Hässleholm in his youth . There he was noticed by those responsible for Svenska Fotbollförbundet and subsequently went through the various junior selections of the Swedish national association. In December 2000 he was transferred to Coventry City for a transfer fee of £ 300,000 . Without having played in the Premier League , he returned to Sweden in 2001.

Breakthrough in Sweden

At Helsingborgs IF Dahl was initially only used as a substitute in the Allsvenskan , but was still able to play in the Swedish U21 team. On November 20, 2002, the 18-year-old made his debut as a substitute for Jon Jönsson from the 65th minute of play in the national colors when the national team drew 1-1 from the Czech U21 national team. In the following years he was able to hold himself in the wider circle of the junior selection , but was not appointed to the squad for the 2004 U-21 European Championship .

In the 2005 season , Dahl made his breakthrough at his club and he was able to fight for a regular place. He also established himself in the U-21 selection, as third in the qualifying group behind the Croatian and Hungarian junior teams , the play-off games and thus participation in the U-21 European Championship in 2006 were missed. In the summer of 2007 it was announced that he would be leaving Sweden at the end of the season and that he had signed a three-year contract with the Danish club FC Nordsjælland . At the same time he played himself in the notebook of national coach Lars Lagerbäck and made his international debut on January 13, 2008 in the 1-0 win over Costa Rica on the occasion of an American tour of the Swedish national team. He was substituted on for Anders Svensson in the second half .

Abroad and return to Sweden

In March 2008 Dahl made his debut for his new employer in the super league and was able to establish himself as a regular in the squad. His first league goal for FC Nordsjælland came on the penultimate match day of the 2007/08 season in a 1-1 draw against Odense BK , when he equalized Jonas Borring's early lead in the 9th minute of the game . As Table ninth, the team reached via the UEFA Respect Fair Play ranking of the UEFA the first qualifying round in the 2008/09 UEFA Cup . After victories over FC TVMK Tallinn , in which he could score, and Queen of the South he reached the main round with the team there. When they met Olympiacos , he was sent off in the second leg with a yellow-red card and was eliminated from the competition with the club.

As a regular player in the Superliga Dahl returned to the Swedish national team in early 2009. In a team consisting of players from the Northern European leagues, he came to the side of debutants Rasmus Elm , Gustav Svensson and Adam Johansson in the 3-2 defeat by the United States national team for his third international match. By the end of the season he played 24 of the 33 league games in the 2008/09 season , which he concluded with the club as eighth of the table. In the summer of 2009, however, he decided to return to Sweden. In June the defensive player signed a three and a half year contract with Hammarby IF . He fulfilled this completely and in 2013 switched to the then second division Landskrona BoIS .
