Andreja Mali (born November 17, 1977 in Ljubljana ) is a former Slovenian biathlete and former cross-country skier .
Andreja Mali from TSK Jub Dob Prii Ljubljani has been running biathlon since 2000 and has been a member of the Slovenian national team since then. The military instructor from Kamnik made her debut in 2001 in a sprint (49th) in the Biathlon World Cup . In her first season she could not reach the points in any race, but was part of the Slovenian squad of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City at the season highlight . Here she achieved her best positions in individual races in sprint (27th) and pursuit (32nd). In the next season she belonged to the extended world elite and was able to achieve several first-class results. She was sprint eighth in Pokljuka , as well as in Oslo on Holmenkollen. She achieved her best result so far as fourth in a mass start race in Antholz .
Since 2003, Mali has taken part in biathlon world championships several times . Things went particularly well at the 2004 Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof , where she finished 14th in the individual and 18th in the mass start. The 2007 Biathlon World Championships in Antholz also went very well . Here she was 16th in the pursuit and fourth in the women's relay. In 2006 she again took part in the Olympic Games. In the singles she was 21st, with the season sixth. Andreja Mali also competed at the Winter Olympics in 2010 . In Vancouver, her best result was 19th place in the individual. With the relay she finished 8th. At the Biathlon World Championships 2012 in Ruhpolding , she won the silver medal with the Slovenian mixed relay.
Mali originally came from cross-country skiing. Here she contested since 1995 (52nd place in a 5-kilometer race in Davos ) World Cup races . She is particularly successful as a sprinter. In 1997 she came in fifth in a sprint world cup in Milan in the top 10 for the first time. In December 1998 she was on the podium three times in sprint races, in Milan and Kitzbühel she came second. Even after switching to biathlon, Mali continues to start sporadically in the cross-country world cup. For example, she started sprinting at the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and finished seventh. At the World Championships she took in 1997 in Trondheim , 1999 in Ramsau , 2001 in Lahti and 2003 in Val di Fiemme - last only in the sprint - with no greater success in part. In the 2016/17 World Cup she jumped in again as a relay runner at the home World Cup in Pokljuka, as only three other runners were available due to failures.
