Anise alcohol is an organic compound derived from benzyl alcohol and anisole . He is the best-known member of the methoxybenzyl alcohol group . It forms colorless to yellowish, slightly sweet-smelling crystals that melt at room temperature.
By reduction of anisaldehyde (for example with NaBH 4 ) anisalcohol arises.
Anise alcohol is mainly used as a fragrance .
