Anna Giacometti (born September 8, 1961 in Samedan ) is a Swiss politician (FDP). She was elected to the National Council on October 20, 2019 .

Life

Anna Giacometti grew up in Bergell . At the age of 16 she attended the commercial school at the Lyceum Alpinum in Zuoz . She then spent a year in England, after which she worked in Chur . In Bern, she trained at the Department of Foreign Affairs and then worked in the consular service at the Swiss Embassy in Lisbon and at the Consulate General in Milan. In 1987 the woman from Bergell returned to her homeland and ran a small farm for 12 years. She was also President of the Upper Engadin Guardianship Authority/ Bergell and headed the Bregaglia fusion project as president of the regional association . She is also a member of the Maloja Region Culture Commission and a member of the ÖKK Board of Trustees .

Anna Giacometti lives with her partner in Stampa and has two grown sons and a grandchild.

Political activity

In 2010, Anna Giacometti took over the Municipality Bureau of the community Bregaglia. It gained national fame after the Bondo landslide on August 23, 2017, when three million cubic meters of stone peeled off the northern flank of Piz Cengalo . Then was Bondo evacuated. As mayor, Anna Giacometti was responsible for dealing with the event. At the end of September 2019, she was elected in the second ballot for a further term of office as mayor. The surprising election to the National Council followed at the end of October 2019 . In summer 2020, she resigned as mayor.
