Apote ( also : Apote Central or Campesina Pampa Grande ) is a district in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Apote is a village in the sub-canton of El Paso, which consists of three localities: El Paso , Apote and Llaunquinquiri. Apote is located in the municipality of Quillacollo in the province of Quillacollo of the same name and borders in the east on the independent village of the same name Apote (Pasomayu) . Apote Central is located at an altitude of 2649  m on the eastern bank of the Río Mal Pasomayu , which flows from the slopes of the Cordillera of Cochabamba into the basin of Cochabamba and ten kilometers downstream into the Río Rocha .

Apote is in the transition area between the Andes mountain range of the Cordillera Central and the Bolivian lowlands.

The mean average temperature of the region is around 18 ° C (see climate diagram Cochabamba) and fluctuates only slightly between 14 ° C in June / July and 20 ° C in October / November. The annual precipitation is only around 450 mm, with a pronounced dry season from May to September with monthly precipitation below 10 mm, and a humidity period from December to February with 90 to 120 mm monthly precipitation.

Apote is located 20 kilometers west of Cochabamba , the capital of the department.

The 1,657-kilometer national road Ruta 4 , which begins in the far west on the Chilean border at Tambo Quemado , runs through Cochabamba and Quillacollo . It leads through the whole country via Quillacollo , Colcapirhua , Cochabamba and Villa Tunari to Santa Cruz and ends in the south-eastern part of the country on the border with Brazil at the city of Puerto Quijarro .

From Cochabamba follow the Ruta 4 west for ten kilometers to Colcapirhua and from there the road "Avenida Reducto" two kilometers north to Tiquipaya . On the southern edge of Tiquipaya, follow “Avenida Cochabamba” four kilometers west to Apote .

Due to the historical distribution of the population, the region has a high proportion of Quechua population. In the municipality of Quillacollo, 55.8 percent of the population still speak Quechua - despite the urban transformation .
