The Aranui 5 is a combined ship completed in autumn 2015 by the Papeete- based shipping company Compagnie Polynesienne de Transport Maritime .

history

The Aranui 5 was built as the successor to the Aranui 3 , which went into service in 2003, at Huanghai Shipbuilding Co. in Shandong and was completed in October 2015. After being transferred to Tahiti , the ship arrived in Papeete on November 9, 2015 for takeover by the Compagnie Polynesienne de Transport Maritime. Commissioning followed on December 12, 2015.

The ship was designed by the Hamburg-based company Shiptec and the San Francisco-based company Team 7 International. The latter was also responsible for the interior design.

commitment

The ship is used to supply the to French Polynesia belonging Tuamotu Archipelago and the Archipelago Marquesas and runs it regularly for two-week round trips between the Society Islands belonging Islands Tahiti and Bora Bora , the atolls of Fakarava and Rangiroa and several Marquesas Islands, where under other consumer goods and food are landed and agricultural products and fish are loaded for transport to Tahiti.

The ship is also being marketed for cruises . There is space on board for 254 passengers who can be accommodated in 103 cabins.

Technical specifications

The ship is powered by two four-stroke - eight-cylinder - diesel engines from manufacturer Caterpillar : (Type MaK with a total of 8000 8M32C)  kW power driven. The motors act on two controllable pitch propellers .

Two generators with 1500 kW power (1875  kVA apparent power ) and two diesel generators with 1076 kW power (1345 kVA apparent power) and two diesel generators with 550 kW power (688 kVA apparent power) are available for power generation. An emergency generator with an output of 250 kW (313 kVA apparent power) was also installed.

The ship is equipped with four holds with a total capacity of around 6391 m³. The holds are located in front of the superstructures . They are closed with folding hatch covers. For cargo handling two are Liebherr - cranes are available, the amidships cargo area between 1 and 2 and cargo space 3 and 4 are arranged.
