The Town of Arena is located in southwest Wisconsin, on the south bank of the Wisconsin River , a left tributary of the Mississippi . The intersection of the three states of Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota, located on the Mississippi, is around 140 km to the west-northwest; to Illinois it is around 90 km south.
The geographical coordinates of the center of the Town of Arena are 43 ° 07'39 "north latitude and 89 ° 55'58" west longitude. It extends over an area of 205.9 km², which is spread over 202.1 km² of land and 3.8 km² of water. The Town of Dodgeville completely encloses the Village of Arena without it being part of the Town.

US Highway 14 runs along the Wisconsin River through the town in a west-east direction . In addition, the County Highways C, H and K run through the area of the Town of Arena. All other roads are subordinate country roads and some unpaved roads.
A railroad line of the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad runs along the Wisconsin River for freight traffic , which runs from the Mississippi to Madison and from there to Milwaukee .
With the Iowa County Airport there is a small airfield about 40 km southwest. The nearest commercial airports are Dubuque Regional Airport in Iowa (around 130 km southwest), La Crosse Regional Airport (around 170 km northwest) and Dane County Regional Airport in Wisconsin's capital Madison (around 55 km east).
