Argo (Greek: Αργό , formerly Europond ) is a Greek band . She represented Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm .

history

Argo, then Europond , was founded on August 31, 2001 in Thessaloniki . The band has always sung exclusively in Greek and Pontic .

The band is under contract with the Underground Sound Studio label .

Eurovision Song Contest 2016

The group was selected internally by the Greek TV broadcaster ERT to represent the country in Sweden at the 61st Eurovision Song Contest. This was the country's first internal selection since 2004 and the first ever to nominate an unknown act. On March 10, 2016 it was announced that they would perform with the song Utopian Land . It was released on the same day.

On March 20, 2016 it was reported that the singer Ilias Kesidis will not go to the ESC and will be replaced by the dancer Vasilis Roxenos.

However, the group could not qualify for the final of the competition.
