Arnold Christian Normann (born March 23, 1904 in Skjætterup , † December 11, 1978 in Helsingør ) was a Danish politician ( Det radical Venstre ) and journalist. In politics he made it to the Minister of Fisheries and Greenland , in journalism to a publisher and editor.

Life

Normann's attitude to life was significantly influenced by the political radicalism of his father, a follower of Edvard Brandes with a humanistic approach to life. As a teenager he worked in agriculture. From 1920 to 1921 he attended Roskilde Højskole and passed his preliminary exam in 1923, and in the same year began to work for the left provincial press. In 1943 he founded AC Normans Forlag together with his brother Mogens . In 1956 he became co-owner and editor of Helsingør Dagblad , from 1972 to 1974 he was editor of the paper, in 1973 he became chairman of the associated stock corporation.

Norman was a member of the Folketing from 1963 to 1971. From November 18, 1960 to September 26, 1964, he was Minister of Fisheries in the Kampmann and Krag cabinets . From February 2, 1986 to October 11, 1971, he was Minister of Fisheries and Greenland.

In a traffic accident, Normann killed two people and injured two others. After his parliamentary immunity was stripped from him, the Folketing , with a majority of 88 to 70 votes, declared him unworthy to be a member.
